Digital Print

It's funny, when I decided to take Titan independent it was because they way I saw it the publishing world was dwindling and there was no sense in signing away creative control of my creation to some publisher when I didn't need to. The world was going through a digital revolution and publishing was caught in the middle. e-readers were taking over and print was officially dead. Then, while I was first publishing Titan through amazon and createspace and got The Midnight Hour in print. Now I've sold more print versions of the book than e-book copies. It seems digitization in publishing is going slower that it did for say the music industry and print books may be around a little longer than I thought. Sadly, for print lovers such as myself things will move to the digital world eventually. My son will mostly read Titan on some sort of screen when he grows up. However, the digital revolution has made it possible for someone like me to publish my book and make people aware of it for very little cost and distribute it with very little physical effort. I look forward to the road of discover that lay ahead.

How To Love a Superhero

I am at a critical juncture for Titan: City Under Siege. As I have already indicated there are going to be bumps on the road ahead for Michael and Carly. I always found that far too many superhero stories revolved their stories around the hero getting in trouble with his girlfriend mostly because he is still keeping his superhero alter ego hidden from her. I have always thought that it would be no picnic for a girl to date a superhero even if she knew about his identity, and it's not all about her being in danger of his villains either. It's that that I want to start and tackle with book 2. Think of all the times Carly has to sit idly by and get stood up as Titan is busy battling baddies. think of what she has to put with to help him keep his secret and she has nothing to gain at all from it. It will be some what of a recurring issue through the series, but don't worry I will not simply retread over old ground. I will only move forwards in new directions with the development of their relationship.

Titans of Future Past

With the first Titan mini serial in the works, which involves a story about the 3rd ever Titan Regulus, I get excited about the idea of finally getting to flesh out some of the overall history of the Titan myth and ;legend which Michael has yet to learn very much about. It spans many centuries and periods and will be interesting to explore even for me. I only ever drafted a vague notion of the Titan's past not a fully fleshed out time line yet. The story has always been more about Michael in our time. Now I am looking forward to fleshing more of these Titan's out and most likely using the in serial format to do so. I will be posting the Titan mini's for free for readers on the blog, facebook and at titansadventures.com, they will also be added at the end of book 2 when it is out.

Titan 2 Progress

I am reaching the 1st one hundred pages of Titan: City Under Siege. I am finding right now that the dense cast of characters that I have created for Delta City are quite a handful to maintain. I am trying to find proper page time for all of the characters in Michael's life. They all have a purpose to his world only some don't become as relevant until later in the series. Yet, it is important for the development of the characters and the entire Titan universe that they be developed slowly through the series so that when their moments arrive we already have a sense of who these characters are and how they fit into Michael's life. Virtually all of the characters form The Midnight Hour appear in City Under Siege. Other than the villains the biggest area of new characters comes from the high school Michael attends. We finally get to see him in school and meet many of the faculty there, and yes Mrs. Samuels does make an appearance as well.

1st Titan Mini Serial

I have just completed the outline for the 1st Titan mini serial. It is called Titan: In The Clutches Of The Leviathan. It will 6 parts about 2-3 pages each. The 1st part will be out very soon! the story will feature our current day Titan Michael Novak but he is not the main character of the story. The story itself goes all the way back to one of the very first Titan's as Azure recounts a cautionary tale to Michael.

the serials will allow for different kinds of stories from the main books. A future serial will be from the point of view of a villain, and of course there will be more from our Titan, Michael. There will most likely be three to four serials before the second book is out hopefully next spring.

Titan in New York

I have just returned from a week long trip to New York city. Roaming and exploring through the city left me feeling inspired in picturing and expanding upon Titan's home of Delta City. For me Delta City was always inspired by the two big cities I was so familiar with Toronto and Vancouver. Yet, I can easily see how so many early creators modelled their fictional cities after New York. Its just a sprawling labyrinth of Gothic skyscrapers. It was such an inspiring place to be.

Titan 2: City Under Siege Cover

Here is the cover for Titan: City Under Siege from Jena Stillwell. I wanted to have a full action shot of Titan and Dr. Melodian in battle and Jena delivered. I love the action shot she has captured for Titan, he is practically leaping off the page at you. The reaching hand adds to the effect so nicely. Titan is scrambling away here but his expression still shows a confidence that boarders on cocky. Dr. Melodian is shrouded in shadow and looks so menacing here. The smoke effect that she was able to do is also very cool. The colouring is also fantastic as well. I think this shows the tone of the new book very well.

Titan 2 Progress

I am actively working on the Titan mini serials. I hope to be able to get he first of these out over the next month. I hope once they start to get them on a weekly schedule. I am hoping to include some artwork with them as well. they will be about 1-3 pages long and roughly 6-8 parts per serial. They will be available for free to readers on the blog as well as the website and facebook.

Jena has also completed the cover artwork for Titan: City Under Siege, and I hope to have it posted very soon. I am very excited about it and think it will blow people away.

The book is coming along well and is proving to be quite the ride so far. Now that the main characters have been established I can jump right into action and the book moves at a very high pace even against The Midnight Hour.
