The Titan Universe Intro

The Midnight Hour represents the entry point into the Titan universe. It is a good solid introduction into Delta City and all its inhabitants. Now that we have been introduced to Michael and all his friends and family we can now get to really know them, and the fun can really start. Origin stories, from opinion can often be a little tedious. I have tried to make The Midnight hour as exciting as possible but the action and excitement has barely even begun. I have worked hard to make the entire Titan universe rich in depth and I hope that shows somewhat at least in this first volume. each volume will only showcase just how deep that universe really goes. there will always be a host of new characters and perhaps host of returning characters as well.
Using Createspace, Amazon's print on demand division, I hope to have Titan: The Midnight Hour available in print as well. Once that happens I will truly have one foot in the old world and one in the new!

Delusions of Grandeur

One of the first things I ever said I wanted to be when I grew up was a comic book writer. I created many characters and stories over the years as a child. As I grew older my artistic abilities did not, sadly, grow and mature with me. I felt I truly needed both, art and writing, to succeed in comics. Unfortunately I gave up that dream too early. I never gave up on being a writer to some degree, though. I continued to create stories throughout my growing up and well into adulthood, now luckily the ability to tell stories did mature with me. I created over the years a myriad of stories and characters. Yet, when I finally decided to stop procrastinating and put pen to paper, there really seemed only one clear choice to start in my writing career. Why not start writing in the one area that got me so fascinated in stories at such an early age. With Titan I had hoped to lump together many of the best ideas I had as a younger boy creating and imagining made up superhero worlds. The stories matured a little just as I matured a little.

Navigating

Turns out getting my book uploaded and for sale on Amazon through KDP was the easy part. the hard part is getting the word out there about it. I am learning and working hard at it. As soon as I feel I have done all I can do with promotion and spreading the word about Titan I plan to start work and the second Titan book, Titan: City Under Siege!

Making The Hero

There are certain characteristics that make up a classic comic book superhero. I have tried to incorporate as many of these as possible or at least my takes on them for this first book. they are: a secret identity, a cape and costume, a real or fictional city they are based in, a girlfriend, an elderly parent figure, a villain who mirrors in many way the heroes abilities, a villain who is known or befriended by the hero. In Titan: The Midnight Hour we have Michael Novak which is the secret identity of Titan, a blue and yellow costume. there is no cape but the ends of his belt and bandana double for this. I chose the fictional city angle and have Delta City with the real city of Vancouver BC for its inspiration. Michael's girlfriend is Carly, named of course after my real life muse and wife. Then of course there is Mr. Midnight who has no powers of his own. The question is who is Mr. Midnight?

There are other characteristics I hope to delve into in the other books such as sidekicks, mad scientist and much more so please stay tuned...

the Digital Age

Living in the digital age has made making and distributing any art form so easy including writing and publishing a book. It's all at everyone's fingertips. had I continued to pursue publishing my book traditionally I would not have been able to make it the way I intended. It would likely not have any interior artwork and I'm quite sue that the cover would look very different, and  who knows what changes to the story and plot or characters a publisher would have wanted to make. In short, doing my book this way allowed me to make it the way I wanted. It now stands as a true testament of the vision I had, even if it is not to the liking of others. I wanted to showcase my vision of a traditional mainstream comic book superhero, and I think I was able to do just that. In all I plan to do 11 volumes of Titan. I plan to explore all aspects of the 'long underwear heroes". Of course all the old comics stereotypes will have my own reflections and viewpoints included.

Look, Up In the Sky, it's...Titan

Growing up I had a great love for superhero comic books. In fact I still do. The magic, the danger, the flashy costumes, the endless battle of good vs. evil I found to be pure escapist fun. These are the modern myths of our times. It is in that vein that I created my own superhero book series Titan, an homage to those stereotypical comic book heroes I grew up with. My hope is that I`ve created something that will add some new flavor to an old recipe while still feeling familiar to the genre. the first book in the series ``The Midnight Hour`` is available for download in the Amazon Kindle store now. It tells the story of how teenager Michael Novak discovers and ancient magical ring that transforms him into the super powered hero known as Titan. As Titan, Michael must save his home of Delta City from the clutches of the evil mysterious criminal kingpin known as Mr. Midnight.
